Crafter’s Companion 2022 Advent Calendar door 5 Double Dutch card

Today I made a double Dutch card with the contents of door #5. The name comes from the split double Dutch doors you will see in farm houses. The bottom opens like a gatefold and the top is a tent card. The top rests of the open bottom gates.

I will say this one was a challenge. When I started the card I hadn’t really figured out how I was going to make the top and so you get to see my thought process a little more in this video.

I have been trying to give the directions without spoiling what is behind the door just in case some is reading this before they open their door. Today I couldn’t find a Way so the item in door 5 is named in the directions.

Please refer to the video on the construction of the top topper. It is straightforward but a little different.

Cream card

CC large tree stamp merry and bright (inside of card)

Mat gold mirror card

Paper measurements

11 ½ x 5 scored at 7 inches (top)

2 ½ x 10 scored at 2 ½ and 7 ½ (Bottom)

3- 2 in square gold mirror card

3- 2 ¼ in square red card

¼ strip of mirror card about 9 in long

4 ½ x 4 in green square

4 5/8 x 4 1/8 red square

Directions

1.Glue the bottom piece flush with the bottom of the top

2. Die cut 3 of the embossing folders using 2 in squares

3. Glue the embossed squares to the 2 ¼ in squares

4, Glue 2 of the squares to the bottom of the card, one on each side

5.Using a pencil find the 4 ½ x 4 green square center points and divide it into 4 sections

6. Emboss each small section with the embossing folder hanging off the edge, see video

7. Glue the gold mirror card strip along the pencil lines

8.Glue the 3rd 2 in embossed gold mirror card to the center of the green embossed paper

9.add the sentiment of your choice

10. Add the inside message of your choice
